Peace of mind for your holiday

Peace of mind for your holiday

It’s time to pack your bags and go on a trip to the south. To ensure a pleasant vacation with your family, take precautions before your departure. Here's a few recommendations to make the most of your vacation:

Protect your home

Don’t leave your home unattended. A mailbox overflowing with mail demonstrates your absence, and thieves can take advantage. Before you go on vacation, take precautions to make it look like you’re still at home. Cancel your subscription with your daily newspaper. Ask your neighbors to pick up your mail and shovel snow, or leave a car in your driveway. Consider other security measures: an alarm system can reduce your insurance premiums. Plus, deadbolt locks will provide extra protection.

Disconnect the dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, TV, stereo, radio and other electrical appliances. You can exclude the refrigerator and the freezer.

Turn off the hot water tank and close the washing machine faucets and the main water inlet valve. Also remember to close the windows and lock them. If you have a timer, plan the time slots. Adjust the alarm system and make sure to lock your doors.

Inform your insurer to avoid surprises!

Did you know that you should notify your insurers if your property remains unoccupied for over 30 consecutive days? You must also ensure that a trusted person visits your home every week. Provide your insurer, if applicable, with the name and contact information of this person.
